How Does JavaScript Affect SEO?

JavaScript can affect SEO when important content, links or metadata are unavailable until the page is rendered. Google processes web pages in three phases (crawling, rendering, and indexing) and content that only appears after client-side rendering can be delayed or missed if rendering doesn't complete as expected.

A common example: a category page whose product links are injected by JavaScript after load. If those links aren't present in the rendered DOM, search engines may not discover the pages they point to.

We diagnose this by checking whether important content and links exist in the rendered HTML, reviewing blocked JavaScript/CSS resources, checking for hydration issues on single-page applications, and comparing raw source against rendered DOM using the URL Inspection tool. Where appropriate, we recommend server-side rendering or prerendering for critical, crawlable content.
